The Truce Foundation is pleased to announce the Truce Index.
Introducing the Truce Index: Turning Words into Action
The Truce Index is the Truce Foundation’s bold step to transform the Olympic Truce from a symbolic gesture into a living accountability mechanism. For centuries, the Olympic Truce has stood as humanity’s promise of peace during the Games—a tradition revived by the United Nations and reaffirmed ahead of Milano Cortina 2026. Yet, promises alone are not enough. The Truce Index asks the hard question:
Is the Olympic Truce being honored in practice?
What Is the Truce Index?
A Global Scoreboard for Peace: The Index tracks armed conflicts, humanitarian corridor access, and violations that threaten athletes, delegations, and civilians during the Truce period commencing January 30 through the Games.
Data-Driven Accountability: Using sources like ACLED, ReliefWeb, UN OCHA, and SIPRI, our analysts verify incidents and publish real-time updates.
Transparent Reporting: Interactive maps, infographics, and compliance scorecards will be available online, with a comprehensive report issued after the Games.
Why It Matters
The Olympic Truce is more than a ceremonial resolution—it is a moral compass for nations and a lifeline for those in crisis zones. By benchmarking UN Member States against their own commitments, the Truce Index empowers governments, NGOs, and citizens to demand accountability and accelerate humanitarian aid.
Join the Movement
The Truce Foundation invites advocates, athletes, and global citizens to champion this cause. By supporting the Truce Index, you help ensure that the world’s largest celebration of humanity—the Olympic Games—becomes a catalyst for peace, not just a stage for sport.
